Wake Up And Smell The Kofi

Something's rotten at the U.N. and it's Kofi Annan, the world body's king of corruption. He has called the bombing of a U.N. post in southern Lebanon an "apparently deliberate" strike by Israel.

"This coordinated artillery and aerial attack on a long-established and clearly marked U.N. post at Khiyam occurred despite personal assurances given to me by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that U.N. positions would be spared Israeli fire," he said in a statement.

As usual, Annan won't be required to back up his statement, but his quick leap to accuse Israel of the premeditated murder of UN observers gives us good insight into whose side he's on in this conflict.

In the heat of battle, mistakes occur, but according to Kofi this is no mistake. He must have proof or surely he would not make such a damning statement to the press about a member nation. Yeah, right, the UN is the cesspool of corruption and it is largely because of the quality of leadership provided by people like Kofi and his crew.

The observers should have been withdrawn earlier, before the fighting got that close and that is one more failure that happened on Kofi's watch.
