Proving what I said yesterday, ("Bush, of course, will take any opportunity to kiss Mexico's butt"), the president extended a test program allowing long-haul trucks from Mexico full access to U.S. highways for up to two years, despite pending legislation in Congress to shut it down.
Despite the fact that American unions, highway safety and consumer groups have opposed the initiative, Senor Bush extended it anyway. Even though the House of Representatives Transportation Committee voted to end the pilot as scheduled next month and that the bill requires congressional authority to restart the initiative, el presidente extended it anyway.
Congress needs to do whatever is needed to end this program. What else does Bush plan to give Mexico before he finally says adios?
