He Won't Allow It, Unless he Does

While campaigning, Obama said about lobbyists, “They won’t work in my White House!” He said that more than once, so saying he misspoke, whatever that means, won't cut it. Later he said that even if they did work in his White House, “You will not be able to go lobby for an industry that you regulated, and I won’t hire somebody into my administration regulating the industry he or she worked for.”

Then, his new treasury secretary is announced and it's Tim Geithner, a former lobbyist for Goldman Sachs. Tim Geithner, a tax evader who failed to pay in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Even if these were mistakes as Geithner claims, why would we want such a bonehead for treasury secretary? Why would Obama want him?

So much for Barack's new ethical era. It's Illinois politics gone national.
