As a sober reminder that we are still very much at war, read this article at the Daily Mail. It is on the trial of eight Muslims who planned to blow up seven planes within hours of each other. They are accused of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit an act of violence likely to endanger the safety of an aircraft. Although eight are on trial, it is believed that up to 18 suicide bombers could have been involved.
At the time of their arrests, the bombers were almost ready to put their plot into practice. Had they succeeded, it would have been the biggest terrorist atrocity since 9/11.
So, when the weariness of the war begins to weigh on us, it would be wise for us to remember this and other foiled plots. Time is of no matter to these fanatics and they will wait as long as it takes to catch us with our guard down.
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." Thomas Paine, 1777 .
