My representative, Gabrielle Giffords, has blessed us with her deep insight into the workings of the Middle East. Making clear her grasp of the obvious in a phone interview with the local newspaper, here are some of her words of wisdom.
“Iran is a great threat.”
“We’ve got to isolate Hamas from Iran."
“The Middle East is a tough neighborhood.”
“Syria has to be more aggressive and cut ties with terrorist groups in Iran.”
There is nothing here that the ordinary informed citizen doesn't already know. In all fairness, this kind of pap is not unique to Giffords or even her party. Most government people are guilty of it.
The public knows what the problems are and they don't need to hear them parroted by politicians who seem to think we are reassured by knowing they also know.
Our government needs to give us specifics and I mean they need to drill down to the nitty-gritty about how they are at least going to confront if not solve our problems. Of course, most of them haven't a clue how to solve the problems, nor do they fully comprehend the complexity of them. Few, if any, read and understand the legislation before them, so they are incapable of analyzing solutions for us. We have a press that cannot and/or will not hold them accountable. So, it is up to us, the citizens of America, to demand intelligent, rational explanations for what is going on in Congress.
Require detailed answers from your representatives. If they cannot or will not supply them demand to know why. If they will not respond, vote them out of office. We must stop electing the arrogant and the clueless.
