Still Not Ready

This should not come as a shock to anyone, but a recent report concludes that the nation "does not have sufficient trained, ready forces available" to respond to a chemical, biological or nuclear weapons incident. The report comes from an independent commission charged by Congress to recommend changes in law and policy concerning the Guard and Reserves.

The fact that those in our government have failed to prepare the US to respond to a major attack this long after 9/11 is just one more reason to not elect any current senator to the office of president. Clinton, McCain and Obama are all culpable and bear the blame for failing to secure this nation by enforcing immigration laws, closing our borders and making the nation's security top priority. Instead, they have played politics as usual, supporting the spending of taxpayer money on pork instead of using the dollars to increase our preparedness in case of a disaster.

Because of this, we are as vulnerable to terrorist attack as ever, China's military becomes increasingly competitive with our own, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and other insane Islamists run amok in the Middle East and in our own hemisphere Chavez and his banana republic comrades turn their countries into launching pads of Latin American lunacy.

Our economy is in shambles, but the people responsible promise us they will fix it. Well, the time to fix it was before the crisis. It's called preventive maintenance.

After the next terrorist catastrophe, will they promise to fix things again as they did last time? How long do we allow this absurdity to continue?
