At last, some good news out of Latin America. Alvaro Uribe has won a second term as president of Colombia. A strong ally of the US, especially in the war on drugs, he will continue his battle against drug traffickers, right-wing militias and leftist guerillas.
Thank goodness we will not have to add a fourth Marxist brother to Evo, Hugo and Castro.
Expect more assassination attempts against Uribe, Colombia is a dangerous environment for a man who forced the FARC back into the jungles.
Also, to his credit, he grew the economy by 5 per cent last year, helping to cut unemployment by a third.
