This week, the U.N. Disarmament Commission elected its vice-chair. Guess who the majority of member states picked. Was it a nation with a record that befits the position? Noooooo, they picked Iran, the country that has violated the non-proliferation resolutions of the very commission its been re-elected to help chair.
Just two weeks earlier, the U.N. Human Rights Council announced it would no longer examine human rights abuses in Iran, even though those abuses included executions (including minors), torture (including amputations, eye-gouging, floggings), and severe restrictions of religious and political freedoms.
Why do we continue to support this nest of vipers?
