The Reporters Without Borders group has identified 13 countries that censor and block online web content. Yahoo was also mentioned as cooperating with the Chinese government in tracking down dissidents.
The 13 worst offenders contain no surprises. They are, Belarus, China, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The Cuban government was described as ensuring "that there is no Internet access for its political opponents and independent journalists, for whom reaching news media abroad is an ordeal.” So much for the wonderland of Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte.
