Porn Defender Of The ACLU

This is Nadine Strossen, President of the ACLU

Strossen has served as president since 1991. She is the author of "Defending Pornography: Free Speech, Sex, and the Fight for Women's Rights."

What follows is a quote of Nadine's from an interview in 1995. You may read the entire interview here.

"The whole subject of child pornography is a separate one because I am proceeding from the premise that mature individuals are capable of, and should therefore be entitled to, their own choices about what they see, what they read, what they produce, and what they perform for. When we're talking about a very young person, that person is not capable of making those choices. Now I think the complex and interesting issues are where exactly you draw the line -- [the] ACLU argues for reproductive rights to be given to people who are minors: If they're old enough to get pregnant, then we have to give them some opportunity to show that they are mature enough to make a decision about an abortion. Well then, why not about performing for pornography?"

Did you catch the twisted trail of liberal logic leading to the subtle blessing of adolescent porn? If they're old enough to get pregnant, then they're old enough to decide on abortion which, in turn, means they're old enough to perform porn. Well, girls have been known to get pregnant at twelve, do we want to be part of the society that the ACLU envisions, where twelve year olds are performing sex acts for money?

Want to know a little more about Nadine? Would you be surprised if I were to tell you That in 2001 she appeared as a guest in "The Vagina Monologues" at the National Theater in Washington, D.C. ?

She is also a member of the advisory board of NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. And a profile of her, by the New York Law School, tells us she is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Is it any wonder the ACLU panders to the perverse when it claims to be addressing civil liberties?
