"Badges? We Ain't Got No Badges"

We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"
"El Bandido", as played by Alfonso Bedoya in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948)

According to WorldNetDaily, deputy sheriffs and Border Patrol agents received gunfire from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande in Hidalgo County, Texas last night.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe TreviƱo is quoted as saying, "This is one of the reasons that I do not allow my deputies to patrol the riverbanks or levies close to the river, because we do know there are drug gangs and human trafficking gangs that will not hesitate to shoot in our direction to get us out of the area."

What is wrong with this picture? Why do we not have sufficient firepower on our borders to back up law enforcement? Why doesn't Mexican law enforcement respond to these situations or are they, in fact, the situation itself. Whatever the reason, we should inform Mexico that if they cannot or will not control the gangs we will dispatch a gunship and take out anything and everything in the area from which the gunfire originated. It is time for both governments to defecate or abdicate.
