Jim Moran, What A Maroon

I thought Cheney was running the show. Who can keep up with the dynamic, deaniac dummycrats?

A U.S. congressman is blasting President Bush as someone who surrounds himself with yes men, labeling Vice President Dick Cheney "the biggest a-- kisser of all."

In an interview with the Raw Story website, Democrat Jim Moran of Virginia said, "The only actual news that [Bush] reads is the sports section. All the national news, all the opinions that he gets have been filtered, and it goes to his daily briefing that has already been pre-screened to give him what he wants to read. He doesn't read any books, and he doesn't talk with people that don't already agree with him. He's surrounded himself with ideological sycophants. And the biggest a-- kisser of all is Dick Cheney."

When contacted yesterday by WMAL Radio in the nation's capital, Moran didn't deny making the remarks, but said the quotes were "taken out of context." He declined the station's request to elaborate or answer questions about the interview on the air.

The editor of Raw Story, John Byrne, told WMAL he stands by his reporting, though he does not have a recording of the interview, which was conducted last Thursday, the morning after Bush's news conference focusing on Social Security.

On that topic, Moran told the website the system was not in jeopardy as was being portrayed by the president.

Moran has a long history of questionable behavior and offensive remarks, many of which are documented on a website called Morantics.com.

In 2003, Moran, then a regional whip in the House of Representatives, was punished by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi after he suggested Jews were responsible for the push for war against Iraq.

At a question-and-answer session with anti-war activists, Moran said, "If it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq we would not be doing this. ... The leaders of the Jewish community are influential enough that they could change the direction of where this is going and I think they should."

Pelosi said Moran's comments on the rationale for war "were not only inappropriate, they were offensive and have no place in the Democratic Party."
