Court Rejects Injunction Against Parental Notification

Good Job, Florida!
Planned Parenthood is another organization out to destroy the family and inflict its amoral doctrine on those of us who believe in moral absolutes. They lost this round but they will be back at any opportunity to undermine and subvert the basic moral decency of our citizenry.

A federal judge has refused to stop enforcement of a new Florida law requiring doctors to notify parents 48 hours before performing an abortion on a patient under 18.

U.S. District Judge William Stafford, rejecting a temporary injunction against the parental notification law, said opponents failed to show they had a good chance of winning a constitutional challenge.

The lawsuit challenging the law -- filed last month by the Center for Reproductive Rights and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America -- will be argued later.

"We'll live to fight another day," said Janet Crepps, an attorney for the New York-based Center on Reproductive Rights. She said she didn't know if there would be an appeal.

Supporters argue the law is needed to restore the rights of parents to be involved in their children's lives. The lawsuit argues the law endangers girls by delaying emergency treatment.

Under the law, doctors must notify parents by phone, in person or by certified mail before an abortion on a minor. Doctors can perform the abortion if there's a medical emergency, however.

The law also lets judges grant waivers based on the patient's best interests, her level of maturity or if she has been a victim of parental abuse.

A baby is killed every 20 mins in America. What a lucrative business! No wonder they don't want parental notification. Money, and greed are more important to these people.

Good one, Ron and yes, Jay, the baby murdering is unbelievable. How anyone who claims to have a conscience can condone it is beyond me.

Medical treatment for minors cannot be done without parental permission. But abortions? Hey that's okay. Are any of the girls told about their chances of infertility, breast cancer or depression that can develop? I've known many women over the years who have had abortions, only 2 were able to conceive/carry with no complications. But that is never reported; as a woman I'm outraged that the girls future health is being compromised for $$$$$.
