Here's a resume from hell.
NEW YORK -- The American Civil Liberties Union today announced that Caroline Fredrickson will be the new director of the Washington Legislative Office. In that capacity, Fredrickson will be the organization's top lobbyist, and will lead the ACLU's legislative team in influencing lawmakers and the executive branch.
"From the Patriot Act to marriage rights for same-sex couples to privacy rights, the Washington Legislative Office is at the forefront of the most pressing issues of our time, and Caroline Fredrickson is the perfect person to lead our outstanding D.C. staff," said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU.
Fredrickson will officially begin at the ACLU on July 18. She is currently the general counsel and legal director of NARAL Pro-Choice America, and has helped shape the organization's position and strategy on all issues affecting women's right to choose, including judicial nominations and state and federal legislation.
She also has extensive experience on Capitol Hill, having worked as chief of staff for Senator Maria Cantwell and for former Senator Tom Daschle as counsel on labor and judiciary issues, and later as his deputy chief of staff. Fredrickson honed her skills in forging bipartisan consensus on issues such as hate crimes, energy and the environment, the minimum wage and farm workers' rights.
Fredrickson also served as special assistant to President Bill Clinton, acting as a liaison to the Senate on judiciary and labor issues, including judicial nominations, civil rights and immigration. In that position, she worked closely with White House policy staff and the staff of executive branch agencies.
