Simon Sues

While I was away last week, I ran across this story about Ellen Simon, a Democrat candidate for Congress in Arizona's first district. What is the former trial lawyer and past president of the Cleveland chapter of the ACLU doing running for office in rural Arizona? She's a supporter of another carpetbagger, the one from Arkansas, who is currently a US senator from NY, so maybe she's trying to emulate Hillary.

What really gives this story flavor is that Ellen is married to Blaine Tanner, who according to The Toronto Star, Canada's largest newspaper, is one of Ontario province’s worst deadbeat dads.

Well, the proverbial you know what hit the fan when Blaine's ex-wife, Pamela Tanner, posted some allegations about Blaine on the Arizona Congress Watch website and the blog of Simon’s Democratic primary opponent, Mike Caccioppoli.

Typical of an ACLU affiliated attorney, Simon has filed a libel lawsuit and is seeking a restraining order against Pamela in order to stifle her free speech.
