What The Border Really Needs

According to an article in Reuters, BORTAC, the elite U.S. Border Patrol unit, may be getting ready to play a larger role on our southern border. BORTAC is specially trained to deal with riots, track terrorists and intercept smugglers of humans and/or drugs. It is specialized in high risk enforcement and similar to a SWAT unit.

With the increasing threat of violence against our law enforcement by everyone from smugglers to the Mexican army, it would be wonderful to see a response from a unit like BORTAC. They wear rough duty uniforms, Kevlar helmets and armored assault vests. Agents carry state-of-the-art night vision and thermal optics and are armed with weapons that include
Berretta 96D 40 cal. Brigadier Service Pistols, Remington 870 12-gauge shotguns with 14” barrel, M-4A1 carbines and M-79 40mm grenade launchers.

The fact that this group may be deployed is evidence of how real and serious the terrorist threat from the south has become. Maybe even our government can no longer ignore it.
