Marion County, Indiana is proposing an ordinance designed to help protect children. It would make it illegal for convicted sex offenders to loiter at places where kids play. Sounds like a reasonable tool for use in combatting pedophiles doesn't it?
Not according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana. They've already filed suit against Plainfield, Indiana over a similar ordinance. Fran Quigley, the Indiana ACLU executive director, trying to pluck the liberal heart strings, says this might keep convicted sex offenders from visiting play areas used by their children or grandchildren. Why should convicted sex offenders be allowed around any children, including their own? Quigley talks about how hard it is for these perverts to rebuild their lives but he says not a word of how difficult it is for their victims to ever lead a normal life again.
Whatever tools can be used to protect the innocence and safety of our kids from those who would violate and kill them, let us have them. As for the perverts, pedophiles and murderers, whose lives have been destroyed by their own crimes, grant them honorary lifetime membership in the ACLU so they can forever be linked with their enablers.
