Abbas Accepts Hamas Cabinet

Things are getting more interesting in Palestine. Will Hamas ever recognize Israel's right to exist?

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority President, notified Hamas officials Saturday that he would accept their proposed Cabinet.

He reiterated his demand that Hamas adopt his vision of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to avoid putting "our national struggle in opposition to international legitimacy."

Hamas does not endorse previous agreements or peace initiatives backed by the Palestinian Authority that recognize Israel. Abbas outlined his position in a letter addressed to Ismail Haniyeh, the designated Palestinian Prime Minister.
