NY Marriage Decision Pending

From Albany, NY comes the news that the ACLU has joined in the effort to overturn a 5-0 midlevel appellate court ruling upholding a law that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman. The five-judge panel ruled in three separate cases brought on behalf of gay couples denied marriage licenses.

The Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court's decision follows a 4-1 December ruling by the state Supreme Court's Appellate Division in New York City to reverse a lower court ruling that would have permitted same-sex couples to wed in New York City.

The legality of gay marriage in New York will be decided by the state's highest court hearing appeals by same-sex couples, civil libertarians and the ACLU.

Among the attorneys for 13 same-sex couples is Terence L. Kindlon of Albany who says, "There is a fundamental right to marriage, which is part of an overall right to privacy

The public is not harmed by same-sex marriage, he said. Instead, society is strengthened by the expansion and evolution of civil marriage to reflect new realities.

Here comes the garbage spewing forth from the unfiltered sewer pipes of liberal logic. No one is denying anyone's right to marriage, only limiting it to members of the opposite sex much the same as the way government limits your right to marry relatives such as your sibling or child.

And, to declare boldly that society is not harmed but, improved upon by same-sex marriage is to state something unproven and most likely false as if it were fact.

Once again, the ACLU finds itself on the wrong side and, lets pray, the losing side.
