Mississippi To Ban Abortions

A Mississippi House committee voted Tuesday to ban most abortions in the state.

The ACLU of Mississippi is already in a panic.

What follows is some of what is on their homepage.

Hello Activists!

The Mississippi legislature is trying to ban abortion in our state. We must stop them.

Yesterday afternoon, a House committee amended Senate Bill 2922 to ban nearly all abortions in Mississippi. Although, the committee has not released the actual language yet, any attempt to ban abortions threatens women's health and lives. The face of Senate Bill 2922 has changed completely: THE BILL HAS BEEN AMENDED TO BAN NEARLY ALL ABORTIONS IN MISSISSIPPI.

Although, we are waiting to see the actual language of Senate Bill 2922’S new amendment, any attempt to ban abortions threatens women's health and lives.

The abortion issue is now once again open for debate. There are sincere arguments to be made from reasonable people on both sides about rape and incest and true cases of the mother's life being in danger. However, abortion should never have become an approved form of birth control and inconvenience does not qualify as life threatening.

For all those politicians who ascribe to the phrase, abortion should be safe, legal and rare, here's a chance to make it rare. If we spent as much time fretting over the innocent life of an unborn child as we do about killers on death row, the supposed compassion of the left might almost be believable.

If abortions were rare, I don't believe we be seeing this flurry of state bills to halt it. It is the excesses of the left and the ACLU that have wrought this backlash. The pendulum always swings back.
