Modern Day Aviation Decisions

What century are we in?

Lufthansa has decided to delete rows 13 and 17 from aircraft seating. "All over the world it is customary to take into account the widespread superstitious beliefs," the airline's website explains.

"On board Lufthansa aircraft correspondingly the 12th row is followed by the 14th. The attentive passenger, however, will also notice the absence of row 17. The reason is that in Italy and Brazil, 17 is regarded as unlucky."

But this "consideration for differing sensibilities" goes only so far. Flight LH 013 departs Hamburg daily for Frankfurt, even on Friday the 13th.

Thanks to the Sydney Morning Herald.
