Sticks And Stones Part II

Here's an update on my post from last week regarding Hugo Chavez and Vicente Fox. Things are heating up!

On Wednesday, Chávez accused Fox of acting like a ‘‘puppy” of the United States for supporting the U.S.-backed Free Trade Area of the Americas during the Americas Summit in Argentina last week.

The Mexican government said Friday that Venezuela must give a satisfactory explanation for President Hugo Chávez’ biting criticism of his Mexican counterpart, Vicente Fox,
or it will take ‘‘appropriate steps.”

“President Fox left bleeding from his wound,” Mr. Chavez said Sunday during his weekly radio and TV show, where he recalled a folk song from Venezuela's cattle-raising plains about a thorn, saying it seems appropriate for Mr. Fox since “you're a man of horses.” After reciting the lyrics, Mr. Chavez said: “Don't mess with me, sir, because you'll come out pricked.”

Mexico responded by saying a failure to apologize would force it to “ask for the immediate withdrawal of Venezuela's ambassador and a recall of the Mexican ambassador in that country.”
